Out Of Office...

Sara, Ellie and I are going to Florida for a week (3/26 through 4/2) and will be unable to return calls during this time. I will be able to check e-mail periodically, so feel free to send me a message if you have any questions for us this week. See you all next week!!

Just start looking at photographers?

Okay, so we know that for most of you, this is your first go around at hiring a photographer. We know you have lots of good questions. Well, there is now a website dedicated solely to helping brides with all of their questions about finding a photographer. It is an honest, non biased website that is a nice resource. We want nothing more than to have happy couples and it starts with helping everyone become informed. Don't get us wrong though, we are MORE than happy to answer ANY questions you may have!!!!! Of course, there are many questions you'll probably have specifically about Orris Photography, like "how did you get to be so cool??", or "can you go back in time and take my parents wedding pictures, because they're awful?!?". Alright, so maybe those aren't your exact questions, but you get the point. We hope this website helps!!

Beth and Jay...

We went with Beth and Jay to downtown Detroit to have their engagement session. I have been looking forward to doing an engagement session there because of all that it offers in such a small area. With Beth and Jay, we did the whole session right in Hart Plaza and found so much that we could do and work with to get different looks. I can't wait to do more shoots there and in other areas of Detroit. I have so many ideas now!!
Beth and Jay were great to work with and we had so much fun with them. After the shoot, we went out to dinner with them at a cool little place near Wayne State called Traffic Jam and Snug. If you've never, been there... what are you waiting for?? A lot of what they serve is homemade, including their beer! Thanks for a fun afternoon you two!!

Here are some previews:

Photo Of The Moment..

I took this image last week when Sara, Ellie and I went to visit my parents for a few days. I was bored one night and decided to take some shots of the pool table. So I experimented with a technique known as painting with light. I have done this a lot in the past, but have not tried it for several years. Basically, all you do is use a flashlight as your source of light and then move it around during the exposure. It's a fun and easy technique to do, but can be tricky at times(at least for me) to get a good result. Try it sometime if you like to dabble with photography!

So you want to know huh..?

I have received a few e-mails wanting to know if any of our P.O.M images are for sale. The answer, of course, is yes!!! I am in the process of getting together my catalog of fine art images and will post them online when I have done so. It's not a huge volume of work, but part of the problem is that much of the work was done in film, so it has to be "digitized" to display online. I will let everyone know how to view the work when it's available. In the meantime, if you see something that you like, just inquire through e-mail and I'll let you know the sizes available and the cost.
Cheers!

Photo Of The Moment..

The Joe Louis Fist. Most, if not all of you, I'm sure recognize the fist which is located in downtown Detroit. Not really much of a story, I just like the shot.
Cheers!!
